If functions as a decent scanner copier without much issue - but the rest of it? PDFs are screwy, only recognizes DOCX and PDF to print via wifi, it is painful.

If I had known all the issues that present each and every time you try a new (and now, 1 year in - needing to perform a factory reset and finally upgrade firmware) function, I'd have never bought the beast. It is as if they require you to understand THEIR LOGIC FLOW in order to print properly.

The password accounts are a nightmare, the settings menu is nearly undecipherable for a new user (you really have to go through the manual which you have to print off using another printer in order to understand the issues that first present. Sure every company was angling to sell proprietary toner and ink at 3 x the price - but Samsung was easy to work on.Ĭanon - not so much. You may run into the problem of your presets not saving, and this is because your “reset presets” button is turned on.I have to agree with you - I had prefered Samsung printers prior to HP buying them up - I've had a hate-hate relationship with HP and never before found printers as closed off as Canon outside of HP. Then you get ready to print, on that menu, it should say “User Authentication” under “User Management.” Afterwards, you will be asked to set a username and password similar to department ID where you had to set up a department ID and pin.Īre your presets not saving for your Canon Printer? Note: You cannot select both “Department ID Management” AND “Prioritize User Authentication”. After you decide which printer you would like to adjust, select “Prioritize User Authentication” and not “Department ID Management”. User Authentication is not much different. This has to be configured on your printer at first or else it won’t print. For department ID, after setting the presets that you prefer, you need to check the box for “Use Department ID Management.” After this step, you will also need to type in a department ID and pin. User Authenticationĭepartment ID’s and User Authentication have very similar process, except for a few minor differences. A preset will save your ID, pin, username, password so that you don’t have to retype them every time you want to print. Printing presets is especially important when using Department ID’s or User Authentication. Without these presets, you’ll have to waste time and energy looking through which setting you want each time you want to print.

Changing your settings on your Canon printer every time you need to print can be a hassle, but having printing presets saved means you have those settings already pre-made.
